ebay item 200676168478 isn’t all that interesting. . . I mean, it’s for a cool Shatner autograph from Star Trek: TNG Profiles. . . and it’s a good price, but otherwise the listing in unremarkable. The entire text of the auction reads:
You are bidding on the A9 William Shatner autograph card ONLY
NO RESERVE
UK next day special delivery
Will only accept postal order or cash (if sent recorded delivery) as payment.
So again, nothing special. . . the seller doesn’t have a lot of feedback, and the no Paypal payments should be a concern to any potential buyer. . . But it was the photo that caught the eye of Card Talker markdennett.
He’d seen the scan before, and posted about it on Card Talk, it didn’t take long before some Card Talkers took action and emailed the seller to see what the deal was. . .
The Q&A is phenomenal, I can’t believe what I read every time I see it. . .
Response to Card Talker about the card’s legitimacy. . .
“No I believe this is not a genuine card, it’s a replica hence the low price thankyou”
That’s right, the seller flat out says this isn’t a genuine card. . .
More Q&A:
Card Talker:
Hello, shouldn’t that be in your description? “not authentic it is a replica” that’s a very important piece of information. Without putting it in there, that’s grounds for deception, which is also known as a scam!
Admitted Counterfeit Card Seller:
Well if it was a scam surely I would have lied saying it was authentic?! I dont state its authentic or its a replica but surely the price speaks for itself as where can you buy an authentic one for £99?? I see what your saying though and in future I will try and be more specific SmileCard Talker:
If you don’t mind me asking, if it is a replica, what would I be getting? Is it a card you printed both front and back? And of the same thickness of card stock? Thanks!
Admitted Counterfeit Card Seller:
You would be getting the card which is presented in a star trek next generation envelope. It is printed both sides, but I am unsure if its the same thickness as original as I don’t own any authentic one’s to compare, The person that I purchased them from does claim they are off a high replica standard and that there almost identical to the originals, but I can only take his word for this as I have never owned an original… hope this helps, Scott Smile
So the guy is happy to sell you a fake card with a smile, and you are supposed to know it is fake because at nearly $200 it’s obviously a replica. . .
I can’t figure out if this is the best or worst counterfeit seller ever. . . But what’s more concerning that this joker is his statement that he purchased these from someone who has more counterfeits. . . not cool. . .
I hope the buyer figures it out in time to get their money back. . .

Wow! I was lucky I got my money back from the seller of the Chris Pine auto, but Paypal was willing to pay me back if the seller wouldn’t have…….I only deal with established sellers in the US-no more overseas sellers. This seller is a scammer b/c if you pay $200.00 for trash with no description that it is trash then he should be reported, and no PAYPAL. High end cards are a real gamble.

So why didn’t you report him?

Charles. . . I haven’t been doing a lot of trading lately. . . if I were to pick I’d probably go with the Pop Century — more hits, and all autos. . .
Delia . . . you are right, buying high end cards isn’t as simple as it once was.
ANDREWBAYTOWN . . . The auction has been reported to eBay as a counterfeit.
