Jennifer Garner Counterfeit. . .

Filed under: counterfeit and questionable cards,Inkworks — webjon @ 12:21 pm

After reading the previous post a webjon reader from blowout cards’ forum alerted me to the following Jennifer Garner autograph that he also found suspicious:

This card is currently available from seller 8088edge on eBay (300478994391). As you can see it’s also been slabbed and graded, which you would think guarantees the authenticity of the card. Unfortunately, while BGS said on Card Talk they would stand behind their grading and take care of collectors who buy fake graded cards, how they plan to do that remains unclear, and as far as I am aware untested.

This signature has the same issues as the signature in the previous post, no feathering, and the tell tale autopen dot. . . even more damning for both cards is that the signatures are identical. Here are both cards resized to the same size, the 8088edge slabbed card is helpfully labeled by the seller:

There is no doubt in my mind that both of these cards are counterfeit. Thank you to Craig and Matt for pointing these out. If anyone owns a counterfeit Garner I would love to get high resolution (300 DPI is sufficient) of the front and back — I’m also searching for high resolution scans of a known good copy of this card for comparison.
