Danny Bonaduce Revisited.

Filed under: counterfeit and questionable cards,General,Topps — webjon @ 9:28 pm

Back in April we talked about a questionable Danny Bonaduce American Pie buyback autograph. . . A card I am not personally familiar with. I’ve kept watching for another Bonaduce buyback to hit eBay, and finally it has. I’m shocked to announce that the new card has little in common with it’s vintage counterpart. . . except for the age of the original card stock

The signature jumps right out as different from the other signature, and this one matches Bonaduce’s TNA sticker autograph. Plus it is numbered on the hologram as it should be and this card has a round hologram — the other one was square!!!!

Now I’m not sure that this new card is legitimate, but certainly at least one of the cards below is fake.

My money says the square hologram card is an obvious forgery. . . An “Unwanted Visitor” indeed.

Update!

Another Bonaduce popped up on eBay today (June 24, 2010). . . This one looks more similar to the suspected counterfeit autograph above. . . the seller has no information about the card in their listing. . .

  1. According to an autograph site I use; one person’s auto’d picture looks close to the first card. It’s more squiggly and only loops the ‘d’ in his last name.

  2. The seller I emailed about the third card never responded. I have a feeling only the first of these three cards is legitimate.

  3. I came across this article looking for information about the buyback cards from this set. I have the Lou Ferrigno autograph, that I pulled from a pack. If the other autographs are the same, the sticker on the back would be round, with two serial numbers. One is the number made, the other would be a Topps number. The sticker is a foil hologram, with Topps printed all over it.

  4. Just to clarify a point on the 2001 Topps American Pie autograph buybacks. There are 3 different buyback autographs in this Topps release. Adam West, Danny Bonaduce and Lou Ferrigno. All of these IF GENUINE will have a CIRCULAR Topps hologram sticker on the reverse starting with the number 061 and it will also have the number xxx/500. There are scammers selling FAKE cards with SQUARE holos on the back peeled from other Topps product. Here’s one on ebay now item 270778853900. I have watched 3 of these counterfeit sell on ebay recently. I have lost count of the times I have clicked ‘report item’ and called ebay to inform them of counterfeit cards. They appear not to know or care about it. I also contacted Topps customer services in NY and they do nothing either – I even asked them to verify what product the square holograms come from and they simply don’t keep a record. Basically they are not interested in the secondary sales market. They just want you to buy factory sealed boxes and wax packs to guarantee you have the genuine article.
