Dark Horse Released Trading Cards in 2010?

I’ve noticed that the non-sport card world online has become very very wide. While I try to keep up with as much as I can it amazes me how much stuff is out there that I know nothing about.

This morning I followed a link from non-sport card forum to a dealer site I had never heard of. There wasn’t much interesting on the site — until I saw a set of 50 cards based on the magazine Creepy. Years ago a few companies were producing this type of product, but I was really shocked to realize the set came out last year, and was produced by Dark Horse!

For more information check out Dark Horse’s site, which will direct you to the dealer website I started at. There you can buy this boxed set for nine bucks.

Let me know if you pick any up!

258 West is blowing up C2E2. . .

As the 20+ inches of snow melt away it can only mean one thing in Chicago — convention season is right around the corner. . .

C2E2 is going to be the first big convention of the year, and I am very curious to see what they do with their sophomore year in the Windy City. Last year’s con was a lot of fun, but rather light on cards . . . this year looks to be even better, especially for card collectors. First, we know that Ed Webb will be set up — so be sure to check out his wares at the Sci Fi Cards table, and 258 West is really pulling out all the stops at C2E2. I had heard rumors about something big from them at C2E2 and emailed Marco, but didn’t hear back (Marco — send press releases!!). Thankfully some Card Talkers frequent 258West.com, and they confirmed that Marco bringing some star power to Chicago!

True Blood stars Sam Trammell, Kristin Bauer and Brit Morgan will be signing autographs for 258 West at C2E2 — and he’s got killer specials on his autograph cards. Check out 258west.com for details.

I really was blown away with the quality of the 258 West products when I saw them at Paul’s CECE last year, so if you are at C2E2 definitely check these cards out. Ohh, and when was the last time a non-sport manufacturer of any sort brought celebrities to a convention? Inkworks at SDCC? Thank you Marco!

And Marco, if you are talking requests . . . please go back and get some of your previous signers to sign regular sized trading cards. Kristen Bell would be my top choice. Hold a set of Vampire Diaries cards for me at C2E2 — seriously.

I’m really looking forward to C2E2 2011. . .

Can’t stop looking at this one. . .

I’m not a collector who is in to bragging about their cards, but I have a card that’s been on my desk for a couple of weeks now and I just can’t stop staring at it. The artist is Kevin Leen, the set is Golden Age of Comics (Breygent), and the result is amazing. . .

The card looks so good people have mistaken it for a printed card rather than the sketch card it is. Ohh — and it cost less than $15. There are some very nice cards in this release at great prices.
