I can certainly see how artists returning cards late, or artists added later in the process to make up for unforeseen problems could result in parts of the production run being loaded with certain artists. While not ideal, as long as there are quality artists through the run that doesn't bother me -- what would the alternative be in those cases? Hold up the release of the set?

Nate's sister has been on at least 1 Sad Littles set, so you may have bought a card from her -- either a return, or a pack she picked up. I'm not sure, but that's a possibility.

I agree -- the titles on the backs of the cards are a nice touch.

Thanks for your comments.

I have picked up a ton of Damsels & Dinosaurs cards, and a handful of
Essence of Fairyland cards as well. I am much more inclined to pay for
the sketch-per-pack sets than pony up the extra money repeatedly for
sets like Legends & Lore only to be left with the extra base sets.
That's a personal preference, so I tend to buy one set directly from
Nate and pick up the other sketches on the secondary market.

My only big complaint may not be an issue at all, but perhaps a
misconception. With the Damsels cards, it seemed certain artists
popped up late in the game. For example, I don't recall seeing many
Duron or Molinelli sketches when the set was first released. They
seemed to come up later. And Eisu sketches seemed to be in earlier
packs. Same with Essence of Fairyland. Several Treece cards showed up
in the last couple of weeks. I imagine that the packs were filled up
depending on when the artists returned the cards.

I also won a card on eBay yesterday that was same last name as Nate
and in St Louis, but not his usual account. So it seems he is selling
the leftovers directly? Doesn't matter at the end of the day if I win
my card, I suppose.

And a neat touch, in my opinion, is that the artists were apparently
asked to "title" their cards on the back. Not all did (Martinez just
signed his on the back, for example), but some like Jeff Chandler did
well with the names.

Hey Jon it's great that the show was so busy! I was at the 92 Wizard convention and that was packed, so hopefully things are getting back to the good times. If you have some promos left let me know I would be happy to send you a stack of our new stuff in return.

All the best,

Chi town sounds like a great show. I will have to make plans to go next year as there's no way I can afford to go to San Diego! If you have any of Nathan's promo's left I'd love to hit you up for a set. Sadlittles is one of the greatest companies out there right now. That picture of the line is crazy but it's good that people are coming and supporting the show.

Similar cards by the so-called company "Starz Cardz" were acquired by me recently and I have gone about the issue with a vengeance. I quickly found a link to Disney anti-piracy and sent them the following letter...

To whom it may concern,

I recently purchased a set of Disney's Alice in Wonderland (2010) Autograph cards from a buyer on Ebay who sells a large volume of these. I assumed these were official, legal and legitimate Disney products as Ebay's policy is such that fakes, fraudulent or copyrighted materials were illegal and in violation of their practices.

After paying a substantial amount for these cards, apparently produced by Starz Cards in Hollywood (although I am not given a contact address for this "company", nor can I find one in any business directory in the US), I was then told (cleverly not via the selling advertisement) that these are "novelty cards" made for the "fun of it" and are limited to 500 worldwide.

After contacting the seller I have not been given any proof that these ARE in fact limited, that the production run is NOT endless and they are obviously making a substantial profit at the Disney Company's expense. The prices these "cards" are sold at are made to be suggestive that in fact, these are "official" products, that they are "limited" and they are "not" in violation of copyright laws. Even though they are in direct conflict with Ebays "laws and policies", I was "warned" by Ebay and my account apparently put at risk for asking questions about this seller and the cards legality on the message board for sellers/buyers.

It is because of this, that an honest buyer with "ethics" has been reprimanded that I post this to you. Even though I have lodged a complaint with Ebay, the seller is still able to sell these Disney "fakes". They are not the only ones.

I have added the links to this particular seller AND the products for you to view but would certainly appreciate a reply from you so that I may be inclined to make contact again in the future if I come across another violation of your copyrighted material. It might also assist my endeavor to help make Ebay a safer place to sell and buy in.

Yours sincerely,
M. Pratt

the reply from Disney so far:

Luckily, I found you CAN (at least it's the law here in Australia) get a refund as soon as they arrive by applying to PayPal as a case for the item "significantly not as described"...the argument being that "novelty", "entertainment only" (theirs not yours) and "just for fun" DO come into that category. I'd give it a go. Then search as hard as you can for the company who own the rights to the artwork etc, they are out there but a bit of a search and then send them the details and the links to the products being sold.

Hopefully, bit by bit these mongrels can be deprived of their parasitic sales.

All the best and thanks for the blog. PEACE!

They look like autopens. All of the stops end in dots, none have a swoop/brushstroke look as if they were signed by hand. Also far too even looking ink.
